Blog Tour Stop: What Sucks the Most about Editing Your Book
I’m over at I Smell Sheep talking about malapropisms. Do you know what they are?
Q: Who or what is your muse at the moment?
A: A lot of things inspire me. When writing Zaria Fierce and the Secret of Gloomwood Forest for instance I was inspired by John Bauer’s art, a pair of troll statues from Slovakia, a recent trip to Europe, a conversation with coworkers, several grammar blogs, and a previous start for the book which perfectly described the main character.
Q: How do you relax at the end of a hard day?
A: Reading, watching movies and shows on Netflix, playing games, walking, etc.
Q: What makes a writer great?
A: The same things that make a book great. It’s subjective. So for me a great writer wants to write and loves to be immersed in their stories. I think that passion for storytelling shines through and is felt by the reader.
Q: If you were to host a dinner party and could invite five famous people living or dead who would you invite?
A: I would invite a group larger than five. I would hand out invitations to spiritual leaders, rulers, politicians, generals, writers, artists, musicians, scientists, engineers, and actors. Which five would honor me by attending I have no idea, but I would hope if they heard the invite list they would all show up. It would be great to compare the leaders of their respective fields then and now. There would be a lot of lively discussion across a variety of topics and the entertainment from charades, concerts, cards, poetry readings, and spontaneous plays which would be fabulous. I would sit at their feet and listen.
